He received his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Florida in 1998 and continued to attend the University Of Florida College Of Dentistry where he received the Research Honors award before graduating as a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry.
As he continued his education he knew that he did not want to stop there and enrolled in post-doctoral studies at Boston University. After 3 years of surgical training he not only received his advanced training certificates in Periodontology, he also graduated with a Master of Science in Microbiology. Since then he has been practicing in South Florida for over 12 years and has been a part of our team for over 10 of them! He is an expert in gum surgery and the best trained Periodontist on the treasure coast; having placed over 10,000 implants! Jacob Mann, DDS
Dr. Mann was born and raised in East Lansing, Michigan. He began playing the Cello in 4th grade and continued on until his sophomore year of high school. He loves theater and was highly involved in his middle school theater program, playing the Beast in Beauty and the Beast. He knew he loved making people smile from a young age, and was proud to have the opportunity to coach various groups of kids in after school programs throughout his high school career. He always knew that he wanted to help others while remaining focused on children because he understands that they have a tough time with the social pressures of fitting in and looking a certain way. While practicing dentistry was always the goal, he felt a calling for social justice and teaching was an altruistic and meaningful way to give back and serve in a lower socioeconomic part of the country.
After much hard work he graduated from the University of Michigan with his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Spanish. Soon after graduating he moved to Los Angeles, California to participate in the Teach for America program. He not only worked as a High School Biology / Chemistry teacher for Fairfax High School in West Hollywood he also coached a basketball team for an after school program. Soon after completing his service commitment with Teach for America he decided to follow his true passion for creating happier and healthier smiles! He went on to attend Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine in New York City where he fell in love with the diverse culture of The Big Apple.
While attending dental school he found himself missing the connection he once shared with his students, drawing him closer to the field of Orthodontics. After graduation he knew he wanted to stay in the city for his advanced residency training at Montefiore Medical Center where he graduated with his certificate in Orthodontics.
Eventually, the warm weather and sandy beaches would bring him south, where he was chosen from over 100 candidates to become a part of the Great Smile Dental family! In his spare time he enjoys college football and basketball rivalries as well as the beautiful weather of South Florida! Although he loves being on the water, he is currently taking any open invitations for fishing lessons! Most importantly, Dr. Mann shares our joy and passion for creating healthy smiles and we are delighted to have him as a part of our team.
“The transformation and confidence that arises within a child when their smile is corrected is life changing. It is a true honor to embark upon a two year journey together while changing their smile and improving their lives!” – Jacob Mann, DDS
